Africa’s Permanent Seats in UN Security Council

The United States has proposed that the UN have two permanent security members from Africa in the United Nations Security Council, but that these two permanent members would not have the power of veto. The reason is that the Council will become dysfunctional if the new permanent members, including Asian and South American representatives, have the veto power.

Matters arising:

1. The US has proven that she has obviously been the “owner” of the UN and only her can decide when Africa and others can join the club of the BIG FIVE.

2. In 2024, the US and her allies have still not learned how not to disrespect Africa and accord it equal opportunities. Despite the reality that the US is losing grounds in Africa to Russia and China and that Africa leans away from her, US policymakers still don’t seem to understand the time to step back and do things that will endear her to the African continent.

3. The African Union, if it can have the balls (it has never had one) should react strongly to this insult and reject the proposal in strong words.

4. African leaders are expected to stand up to the Western world and REJECT this disrespectful offer. They must not accept the proposal or offer. The Security Council can remain without African permanent members until common sense prevails and we are accorded the respect that we deserve.

Thanks to the US for this thoughtfulness. But NO thanks, not this unequal arrangement. “We hold it in self-evidence that all (men) are created equal.”
